Hotel Isla del Gallo

Set in the famous, historic town of Trujillo, this typical, 17th century townhouse has been renovated to include modern luxuries such as an outdoor pool. It occupies the Iberian Peninsula and is bathed by the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the Cantabrian Sea. The Isla de Gallo is set in the town famous as the home of legendary Conquistador, Juan Pizarro, in the square bearing his name. It also includes the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla Its total surface area is 504,788 sq kms Spain's powerful world empire of the 16th and 17th centuries ultimately yielded command of the seas to England. Continuing the theme, each of the property’s 13 guestrooms is named after a fellow Conquistador. Subsequent failure to embrace the mercantile and industrial revolutions caused the country to fall behind Britain, France, and Germany in economic and political power. The hotel contains a charming inner courtyard following the original design of the building. Spain remained neutral in World Wars I and II, but suffered through a devastating Civil War (1936-39). On the rooftop you can lay back and enjoy the warm southern sunshine. In the second half of the 20th century, it has played a catch-up role in the western international community. The hotel lies just a short walk from the town’s main Plaza Mayor.
