Subsequent failure to embrace the mercantile and industrial revolutions caused the country to fall behind Britain, France, and Germany in economic and political power. Further golf courses are located in the immediate vicinity. Spain remained neutral in World Wars I and II, but suffered through a devastating Civil War (1936-39).

The hotel is situated only 38 km from the airport, 28 km from the metropolis of Palma and a mere 3 km from the lively holiday resort of Paguera. The centre of the village offering a few stores and restaurants is only 300 m away. Scheduled bus services are available to Puerto de Andratx and Paguera.
