Subsequent failure to embrace the mercantile and industrial revolutions caused the country to fall behind Britain, France, and Germany in economic and political power. Hotel has its own Thalassotherapy centre, restaurant and the rooms are comfortable and light and airy. Spain remained neutral in World Wars I and II, but suffered through a devastating Civil War (1936-39).

Hotel details

The hotel has a Thalassptherapy Centre where various different ‘sea’ treatments are employed, such as sea water, seaweed and clays. There are 17 treatment rooms, a sauna, Turkish bath, aromatherapy area, invigorating pool with sea water (heated to 32 and with a jacuzzi area), beauty treatment area and La Prairie Beauty Centre. The gym is accessible for all guests at no extra charge. The Thalassotherapy Centre is open to children aged 14 and over.

The Real hotel is situated in a nice residential area in Santander, between the city centre and El Sardinero beaches. Just a short walk away you will find the peninsula and La Magdalena palace, the former summer residence of the King Alfonso XIII; the beaches of La Magdalena, on the bay and El Sardinero, the open sea. Also nearby: the Reina Victoria promenade along the bay and its impressive landscape, the Palacio de Festivales offering performances all year round and the Gran Casino El Sardinero.
